The Abbot of the Stormsong Monastery
Keeper of the Trial
The serene abbot of the cliffside monastery who welcomes storm-battered travelers with warmth, then declares with quiet certainty that the storm has chosen them for its Trial. Gentle in manner and unshakeable in faith, he presides over the meditations, debates, and vows of the Stormsong.
Description
The Abbot greets the survivors of the broken bridge as though he expected them. Calm amid the shrieking wind, he offers food, warmth, and shelter, and speaks of the storm not as a disaster but as a divine examiner. 'You are chosen,' he tells them. 'The storm demands your trial.'
He is the still center of the monastery: kindly to guests, patient with doubters, and utterly certain that endurance, meditation, and sworn vows are the only defense against the fury of the Spires. Under his guidance the Trial of Stormsong begins as something almost gentle.
Players will find him difficult to dislike and harder to refuse. His certainty is comforting, his hospitality real, and his authority over the monks absolute, which makes the growing strangeness of the monastery all the more unsettling.
